Waste We Can't Accept

Please do not include household hazardous waste in your trash pick-up.

The Dutchess County Waste to Energy facility collects household hazardous waste (for example, product containers marked "Warning", "Hazardous", "Flammable", "Poisonous", "Corrosive", etc.) on designated Saturdays several times each year. Please contact them at 845/463-6020 or visit dcrra.org for a detailed list of acceptable items, upcoming dates and mandatory pre-registration information.

Yard Waste

Please consult your town for available methods of disposal.

Years ago most waste was biodegradable and routinely buried in the ground to decompose. Today, our mixture of modern materials is complex and stubborn to handle. We must work together to separate, treat, burn, and recycle as much as possible. The task is difficult and expensive—but actually a small price to pay for the conservation of our beautiful lands and the protection of our vital environment.
